These adorable orange hippo dishes are hand-carved from soapstone, also known as Kisii stone, as it is hand-quarried and carved in the Kisii region of Kenya, and then painted with bright eco-friendly non-toxic paint, and polished to a shine. Great as a unique gift for any hippo lover, or as a gift to yourself!
The orange hippopotamus dishes are 7" from nose to tail, and the bowl is approximately 4.25" diameter. They are about 2" high. Sizes/dimensions are approximate, as each piece is handmade.
Hippo dishes are also available in a variety of colors.

As each item is hand-carved and unique, you will receive exactly the item pictured. As these are handmade from stone, marbling and natural marks may appear in the stone.
We work directly with a community-based group of 30 artisans in Kisii, Kenya, who bring these beautiful soapstone hippo dishes to life. This partnership not only supports the artisans financially but also helps preserve their traditional carving techniques. -

The bowls are extremely well crafted and lovely. A gorgeous and unique piece that is of very high quality. We had an unfortunate issue where our package was lost and Janet was the most helpful and proactive seller I’ve ever dealt with.
